The Last Dance

by Lea Ebio
Sheena was starting to lose hope. She and Adam had been madly inlove with each other during their 3 years together. But fate played a cruel tricks on them. One day, she discovered him kissing another girl. Without waiting to hear Adam's explanation, she announced their breakup right in front of the two shocked lovers and hastily leave the damned place.
Adam followed suit, cajoling, pleading.."Sheena, please let me explain. It's not what you thibk----"
"And what do you want me to think of it?" she flared at him. "Don't take me for a fool Adam!"
They were out in the strees. And many curious people are already staring at them. But she don't seem to mind. All she know is shed been cheated by the man she loved the most.
"Sheena! I love you baby!"
"Go away! I don't ever wanna see you again."
She said thru her tears stricken face. She turned and run and could still him calling her name and proclaiming his undying love.
Soon, she'd lost him, amidst the busy streets of the 6th avenue. There was suddenly a commotion, probably another dispute between the vendors. It happens all the time.
She reached their house in a short time, or maybe she had'nt notice the trip towardz their home. Her heart and mind suddenly in a vague haze.

When she opened her bedroom door, she was slightly surprise to see a box containing a beautiful ball gown. Then she cried when she read the note.
To the only woman I've ever love. Please wear this on the halloween party. See ya there.
Love,
Adam

The Halloween party! Oh how could she forgot! Tonight was the Halloween party. And she is supposed to there with Adam. She promised him a dance. A dance that will never going to happen now, she thought bitterly.
She debated wether to attend the party or not. But what the heck! She will try to enjoy the night even without Adam.

Back at the party, she was still sulking and feeling so down from the previous events. She sobs, she remembered Adam. And suddenly, she realized she'd been an asshole for not hearing his explanation first before breaking up with him. Maybe he gone mad because of her feeble mindedness and had given up reconciling with her. She never hear from him since that moment she run away from him. If only he would show up tonight, she will going to him another chance and hear his explanation. She will try, because she love him so much.
She promised him a dance, right? Shs thought trying to console herself. But it was getting late in the niht and there was no still sign of him. She was about to give up hoping, when a voice behind her speaks.
"Can I have this dance with you my love?"'the voice seemed very familiar to her and yet at the same time, strange.
"Adam!" she almost jumped with happiness from her chair upon seeing him."I thought I've lost you for good!" she said and hug him tightly.
He hugged her with more passion and grip. And a sad smile crossed eyes as he looked at her lovingly."You promised me this dance, remember?"
She smiles at him and they walk to the center of the dance floor. They danced for hours, he never letting her out of his grip for a single second. It was as if he cherished every dance they've shared. Feeling the moment as if it were his last.
Sheena, feeling the weariness slowly creep on her now, beg for a rest. His face saddened, and a tear almost escape his eyes, if not for his strong sense of composure. He give her one of his dazzling smile she come to love, but she could see the loneliness behind that smile.
He lead her to her seat, and with a very heart-felt loving gesture, he kissed her lips and looked right through her eyes. "Remember this Sheena, you were the only woman I've ever loved. I never cheated on you," he said with deep gravity it sends shivers down her spine.
"Then why did you kiss that girl?" I managed to ask through my loud heartbeat.
"She's the one who kissed me, after I told her that I cohld'nt love anyone but you. I was taken by surprised, and that was when you came in and saw us." He explained to her, but he's looking at the distance now. She wonder what was going through his mind.
"I'm sorry Adam. I still love you. I want you back." I said crying again.
But he just smiled that sad and strange smile. "I love you too Sheena, til death do us part!"
At his words, thunder and lightning struck somewhere far, lighting the sky.
And he was lost in the crowd before she could stop him.

Morning comes and her friend came in with a shocking news.
"Sheena! Have you heard the news?"
"About what?" I asked perplexedat her friends look of pity for her.
"Adam was hit by a ten-wheeler truck yesterday in the 6th avenue! He died on the spot!"
She paled and trembled as realization hit her....

October 24, 2015 - 14:59 Interesting premise. I really liked the story. The only thing I'd think of doing is making sure you are using the right spelling and grammar. Other than that, this story is very good!
